You can rent moving equipment with your truck

Moving house doesn’t just require a truck. You need boxes, ropes, blankets and trolleys for moving everything, securing it all in the truck and making sure your furniture doesn’t break on the journey. At Southern Cross Truck Rentals we have a range of equipment to make your move easier, just ask. We have these items for hire:

  • Ropes for securing items
  • Blankets for protecting your fragile goods
  • Tie-Downs
  • Trolleys to make the heavy lifting easier
  • Hire a Truck Driver

If you need to hire a truck that is too large for your driver’s licence, we can organise a truck driver to do the work for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size home can be moved with a Pantech?

A 3 Tonne Pantech will typically move a 2–3-bedroom home. Bigger homes may require multiple trips or renting a larger Pantech (however a MR licence will be required). Before hiring the vehicle, you should discuss this with our experienced staff.
Refer to our moving calculator for a more tailored assessment.

What licence do I need to drive a Pantech?
The minimum is a C licence to drive the 3 Tonne Pantechs. For the bigger Pantechs, an MR licence is the minimum required.
Do I need to pay for the fuel I use?
All vehicles are supplied with a full tank of fuel. They must be returned with a full tank but if not, then there is a refueling charge plus an administration fee. These are explained to you and part of your agreement when hiring the vehicle.
What happens if the vehicle breaks down?

Whilst our fleet is maintained and serviced regularly to the highest standards, sometimes breakdowns will still occur. If so, our vehicles are covered by 24-hour emergency breakdown service. This covers issues such as flat batteries or engine problems. The emergency contact number is provided in the vehicle. In case of a breakdown, you can call 1300 426 708.

Do you have trolley packs for hire?

Yes, we offer trolley packs at an additional cost of $20 + GST. Our trolley packs include ropes to help you use the tie down points in the Pantech to secure your load. Our trolley packs include the following:

  • 4 blankets
  • 4 ropes
  • A trolley
What happens if the goods I’m transporting get damaged?

Generally, your goods will not be covered by our insurance policy. We recommend you look at obtaining your own insurance to cover your goods whilst in transit.
